I’d love to have this discussion on here too with anyone who wants to join in.  What are your thoughts / experiences?

If you are local and want to join me, check out the Spiritual Growth Discussion Group tab and you’ll find all of the info there 🙂

This weeks topic is prayer.   What thoughts do you have about prayer?  Here are some ideas to get you started.

What does prayer mean to you?
How do you pray, do you have any specific beliefs about how a person should pray?
Have you had any special experiences with prayer?
Do you keep track of your prayers?  If so how?
Where do you pray?
Do you believe God answers all prayers?  How does he decide which to answer?
What do you call God?
Can you recall a time that God has answered a prayer that was especially meaningful to you?
Has God ever used you to answer another person’s prayer (that you are aware of )?
Do you have any other thoughts on prayer you’d like to share?

If you plan to come to the discussion, (make sure you let me know you are coming), look over the questions, give them some thought and we’ll discuss them on Thursday 🙂

If you want to join the discussion online, post your comments on the blog, or if you have your own blog and want to post on it you can just post a link to your site.

I posted on here the other day about starting a spiritual discussion group, and I am really hoping I can get it rolling.  I have a vision for a group of women gathered together, being able to share and discuss their personal spiritual journeys and experiences in a safe, accepting, loving environment, forging friendships, supporting one another, and learning from one another.  I learn so much everytime I hear someone even a tiny bit of their journey, and I know I have so many incredible experiences that I can share also.  I think with a little work it can be an incredible thing…. now where to find the people is the biggest question.

When: 3rd Thursday each month at 7:00, starting April 21, 2011

Where: My home… e-mail me for the address.  I am located between Idaho Falls and Ammon

This group is open to anyone who would like to attend.  To get the most out of the group, you should:
1.  Believe, or be investigating the idea that God gives each person direction in their lives and that by following this direction we become better people.
2.  Understand that people are at different places in their walk with God, and trust that He will direct them on the right path for them individually as they grow.
3.  Be willing to participate in a discussion group with people whose beliefs may differ from your own, listen and participate with them, taking what you need and leaving those things with which you disagree.

Group Purpose:
A discussion group focused on helping women grow spiritually and personally by exploring and discussing their beliefs, experiences, and the experiences of others in a variety of topics.  The group will also further encourage growth by providing a group of people that can rejoice with and encourage one another as each person sets individual goals for growth.

How it works:
Each month, at least 1 week before the meeting, a topic along with a list of questions will be provided to the women participating.  Women will then have an opportunity to consider how this topic has affected their life in the past, affects it now, and anything they would like to change in this area.
When the group meets we will discuss the topic for the week, sharing our personal experiences with the topic as well as any other topics that might be on the hearts of anyone attending.
During the discussion, members will give one another feedback, discuss their own experiences and struggles on the topic, and if desired set goals for the next month.
I will have a variety of quotes, scriptures, etc for discussion should they be needed during the conversation.  However this will not follow a traditional Bible or Scripture Study style.

Sample Topics:
Trusting God

Cost: Free
Bring with you:  A snack to share (optional), the chairs I have out are mostly folding chairs, so I would encourage you to bring a pillow or cushion so that you can be comfortable, if you prefer to bring your own chair you are always welcome to.

To sign up or if you have any questions, please e-mail me at divergentramblings@gmail.com .

Taxes – Again

It’s tax time again, and being self-employed, tax time is even more dreaded around here than in most homes.  That said, we got good tax news!  We are so excited, we were expecting to have another HUGE tax bill, but we owe $2000 less this year than we expected!  While still owing might not seem like good news to a lot of people, it feels almost like a refund to us!  Woo hoo!

Diet Coke

So, about 3 weeks ago, I decided I needed to get off Diet Coke for good.  I am seriously addicted to Diet Coke.  At the time I was drinking 6-7 cans a day, easily, and drinking almost nothing else.  I knew I could cut down easily to 3 cans, without too much trouble, as I’ve managed to get down to 3 a number of times before.  So, I cut myself back to 3 cans.  After about 1/2  a week I went to 2 cans, but then I really started to feel the difference, so I stayed at 2 cans a week for about 2 weeks.  A few days ago I decided to try to go down to 1 1/2 cans, I drank 1/2 a can in the morning and forgot to drink the other can.  I was fine that day, but the next woke up with a migraine.  I drank 1/2 a can that day, but also took 2 migraine pills, which have a TON of caffeine in them.  The next day I planned to try going up to 1 can and see how that went, but again forgot after the first 1/2 can.  I’ve now been drinking 1/2 can a day for the last few days, and I’m so excited.  I’m still having issues with the caffeine withdrawls, but they are at a point that I can handle them.  I’m hoping to be totally off of diet coke by the end of the week next week!! Yeah!!!
